During the 2012 Wings over Gillespie air show, at Gillespie Field (El Cajon, California), pilot Larry Perkins presents the Goodyear F2G Super Corsair he has flown in from Chandler, Arizona, where it is part of Ron Pratt's collection.

Perkins walks around the aircraft on the ground and explains its history: only ten were built, delivered after World War II, so they never saw combat, but they excelled in air racing. This example won the Thompson Trophy at the 1949 Cleveland Air Races and wears the same livery.

It is one of two still flying. It is powered by an R-4360 engine of about 3,850 hp, compared with the 2,000 hp R-2800s of the original Corsairs, and has a bubble canopy and a taller tail fin. It has a wingspan of about 41 feet and an economical cruise speed of 280 knots. A white propeller blade recalls the propeller replaced after an incident in the 1949 race.
