What Above Ten Thousand is, how its entries are built, and where the information it publishes comes from.
Above Ten Thousand is a portal for aviation and space history and current affairs. It brings together two things that almost always live apart: an encyclopedia of aircraft models, manufacturers, launch vehicles and events, and a daily tracking of what is happening in the industry.
The goal is that anyone arriving in search of a specific fact — when a model first flew, who built it, what versions it had — finds it complete, dated and with the source in plain view, in any of the portal's six languages.
How entries are built
Every published fact comes from an identifiable source, recorded alongside the fact itself. A figure is not published because it appears repeated across many sites: it is published when there is a reference backing it up.
When two reliable sources contradict each other, the discrepancy is not silently resolved by picking the more convenient one. It is noted and left pending review, because in aviation history, conflicting figures are the rule rather than the exception.
Entries are reviewed and expanded on an ongoing basis. None of them is ever finished.
The news
From other outlets' content, only the headline, a short excerpt and the link to the original publication are collected. The body of third-party articles is neither stored nor reproduced: anyone who wants to read the full story goes to the outlet that wrote it, which is where they should go.
Our own summaries and comments are original writing and are identified as such.
