Video from the channel Historical Aviation Film Unit about Vought F4U Corsair, linked on its Above Ten Thousand entry. Duration: 3:41. Language: English. Video type: Air show.

Flying display of the Old Stick and Rudder Company's Corsair, an original RNZAF example that has become a crowd favourite at New Zealand air shows. Flown by Keith Skilling.

As the aircraft makes passes and manoeuvres, the narration covers its history. Between 1940 and 1952 more than 12,000 examples were built at Chance Vought, Goodyear and Brewster, the longest production run of any American piston-engined fighter.

In the Korean War (1950-1953) the Corsair served mainly in ground attack. It was also used at night against North Korean Po-2 biplanes, the "Bedcheck Charlies," too slow and low for jet night fighters. Lieutenant Guy Bordelon, a US Navy Corsair pilot, was the only ace of that war who did not score his victories in a jet.
