An introduction to the Douglas DC-3, developed by Douglas Aircraft Company from the DC-2 on commission from American Airlines, which wanted a more comfortable aircraft for transcontinental flights. It first flew on 17 December 1935 and was the first commercial aircraft that allowed airlines to make money from passengers alone. It was used by American Airlines, KLM, Lufthansa, Varig, VASP and Panair do Brasil, and in its military version, the C-47 Skytrain, it was key to Operation Overlord. It is a twin-engine aircraft with Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp radial engines, carrying up to 32 passengers, with a wingspan of 29 m and a length of 19.70 m, a top speed of 370 km/h and a cruise speed of about 290 km/h. The second half shows a DC-3 starting up at an air show and taxiing back to the ramp.
