Event and team

A Mexican channel specialising in firearms tours the pavilions of FAMEX 2023, the Mexican aerospace fair, on its opening day. It stops at the stands that interest it most and interviews several exhibitors.

What you see

The visit begins at the stand of a gunsmithing workshop from Río Verde, in San Luis Potosí. Its owner, who says he has worked in the trade since 1993, shows hand-done ornamental engraving on steel firearms, a piece that can take about three weeks. Next comes a light tactical vehicle manufactured in Aguascalientes, intended solely for military and police use. According to the exhibitor, it has level 5 armour with ballistic polycarbonate, reaches about 140 km/h on dirt tracks, can be monitored from a command centre, and carries a mast of about 12 metres with a 360-degree camera capable of seeing up to a kilometre and a half away. Also shown are a Navy autonomous surface vehicle, a large armoured vehicle and stands from several states that manufacture aerospace components. The video ends with air force paratroopers landing.

The aircraft on display

The featured aircraft is the Halcón 2, a two-seat light sport aircraft designed and built in Celaya (Guanajuato) from carbon fibre and epoxy resin. According to its manufacturer, it allows 20 kg of luggage and carries 37 litres of fuel per wing, giving it 4.2 hours of endurance, a range of about 600 km and a speed of 250 to 300 km/h. It is intended for training pilots seeking a private pilot licence, for aerial surveillance tasks and for recreational flying.
