Competition and team
Account of the channel author's visit to FAMEX 2023, the Mexican aerospace fair, with the main draw being a performance by the Viper Demo Team. The author recounts that the F-16 is the aircraft that led him to study aeronautics, after seeing it at a festival in Acapulco in 2006.
What you see
The first day opens with the F-16's flight demonstration, which the author follows from very close to the platform. He then tours the venue as some aircraft depart, among them a new Aeroméxico Boeing 787, and observes from outside an Embraer 195-E2, noticeably larger than the 190. He boards a Stratotanker tanker aircraft, where a crew member, who asked not to be identified, explains how it works. The detail that strikes him most is that the aircraft has no autothrottle, so the crew adjusts thrust by hand to coordinate the rendezvous with the aircraft receiving fuel.
In the exhibitor area, General Electric's CF34 engine appears, which the author presents as a successor to the CFM56 and the CF6, along with an urban transport drone from the company Air Mobility, whose CEO, Cristina Lara, grants him an interview to be published separately. On the closing Saturday, with free admission and activities for children, the air base is much busier.
The aircraft on display
The Viper Demo Team's F-16 flies again at the closing event, which ends with a display by the Mexican Air Force's aircraft.
