A fan films the closing air show of the Mexico Aerospace Fair (FAMEX) 2023 from the crowd. The author says he arrived early to get a spot, and throughout the video the official PA system can be heard in the background introducing the aircraft and crews. Mexican Air Force aircraft take part, along with guest units, including a fighter jet flown by a woman and parachutists.
The video also includes an institutional presentation of the fair. According to that text, FAMEX is a trade event for the civil, military, security and defense aviation sector that aims to bring together industry leaders, boost trade and drive the aerospace industry in Mexico. It is organized by the Secretariat of National Defense through the Mexican Air Force and was first held in 2015.
What you see
The recording begins with the static display of aircraft and continues with the flying program. The F-5 Tiger II appears, introduced over the PA with some of its specifications. Afterwards, a formation leaves green, white and red smoke trails as the Mexican flag is unfurled, and there is a parachute jump whose preparation and maintenance the announcer describes.
The most eye-catching part is the F-16 demonstration, with aerobatics and loud engine noise. The PA system also introduces an aircraft able to carry up to 2,500 litres of water and a transport plane whose cargo hold is adapted to each mission. Later there are rolls and maneuvers at the edge of the flight envelope, with the announcer highlighting the skill of the Mexican pilots.
The aircraft on display
The F-16 in the demonstration and the Mexican Air Force's F-5 Tiger II are the best-identified aircraft in the video. For the rest, the PA system only gives their role: firefighting, transport or aerobatic formation.
At the end, the author notes that the crowd filled the area throughout the morning and that the organizers announced the next edition for 2025.
