US Fighter Pilots Thoughts on the Eurofighter Typhoon
Video from the channel The Mover and Gonky Show about Eurofighter Typhoon, linked on its Above Ten Thousand entry. Duration: 2:38. Language: English. Video type: News.
In this clip from their show, two US fighter pilots answer the question of what they think of the Eurofighter Typhoon. One of them recounts that, during an attempt to sell it to Malaysia, a British Typhoon squadron deployed there and he was able to sit in the cockpit of one of the aircraft.
He praises the aircraft's thrust-to-weight ratio, which is noticeable in very short takeoffs. He criticises, on the other hand, the cockpit ergonomics, with the front control panel shifted to one side. According to him, the British pilots themselves attributed some problems to the fact that several countries took part in the design, such as single-component failures that force ejection. He clarifies that the visit took place almost ten years ago.
His overall take is that the aircraft has excellent performance and somewhat odd ergonomics; the other pilot says he would like to fly it.
