EUROFIGHTER TYPHOON: Heavy Precision Bomber – Europe's Multitool for Air Combat | WELT Documentary
Video from the channel WELT Documentary about Eurofighter Typhoon, linked on its Above Ten Thousand entry. Duration: 4:35. Language: English. Video type: Documentary.
A WELT documentary piece on the use of the Eurofighter Typhoon as a precision bomber, even though it was born as an air-combat fighter.
Designed for air-to-air combat, in recent years the aircraft has also been used against ground targets with guided bombs under the wings, fitted with laser seekers and GPS guidance. It can carry four at once.
In one exercise, two practice bombs without an explosive charge are dropped using GPS coordinates 12 km from the target: one hits dead center and the other lands 2 m from it. The footage also shows target marking with the helmet sight and, the next day, a strike with real laser-guided bombs, the alternative used when the GPS signal is jammed.
