Dassault Rafale Rafale EG

The Rafale EG is the single-seat version for the Hellenic Air Force, paired with the Rafale DG two-seater. Greece announced the acquisition of 18 F3-R-standard Rafales in August 2020; initial reports spoke of ten new Rafale Cs and eight second-hand French aircraft that had started life at the F1 and F2 standards, but in January 2021 the Hellenic Parliament ratified the agreement with Dassault to buy six new-build aircraft and twelve used F3-Rs formerly operated by the Armée de l'Air. In 2021 Greece ordered six more, for a total of 24, and by January 2025 all had been delivered to the Hellenic Air Force. Greece thus became the Rafale's first European customer and, with Croatia, one of the two countries to receive aircraft taken straight from French stock, which obliged France to order new aircraft to keep to its fleet target. In April 2026 President Macron offered Greece the transfer of its Mirage 2000-5s to Ukraine in exchange for a discount on an equivalent number of new Rafales.
