The Bf 109 G-6 was the most numerous sub-variant of the Gustav series, powered by the Daimler-Benz DB 605A-1 engine rated at 1,475 hp (1,085 kW). It introduced as standard armament two 13 mm MG131 machine guns synchronized above the engine (300 rounds per gun) and a 20 mm MG151/20 cannon or, on the G-6/U4 version, a 30 mm MK108 cannon (65 rounds) firing through the propeller hub; it could be fitted with two 20 mm MG151/20 cannon in underwing gondolas (Rüstsatz VI) or with 21 cm Wfr.Gr.21 rockets under the wings. It reached a maximum speed of 642 km/h at 6,300 m and a service ceiling of 12,000 m, with a climb rate of 22.7 m/s. Its internal range was 880 km, extendable to 1,994 km with a 300-litre drop tank.
