History

ISPA5 was built in March 2011 as a Tranche 2 aircraft within the instrumented series production programme and, once its test flying was complete, was handed over to the Royal Air Force in January 2014. It closes the group of five ISPAs spread across the four programme partners, which complemented the instrumented production aircraft: while the IPAs sustained long-running development campaigns with heavy instrumentation under NATO agency ownership, the ISPAs allowed specific equipment to be validated on airframes that later returned to national front-line service. The sources consulted publish neither its first flight date, its serial nor details of the trials it covered.
