Eurofighter Typhoon IPA5

IPA5 is the single-seater built by BAE Systems at Warton, which first flew on 7 June 2004 with Mark Bowman at the controls. It was assigned to air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons integration, covering AMRAAM, ASRAAM, 1,000-pound bombs, BL755 cluster munitions and the ALARM anti-radiation missile. On 12 March 2009 it flew to Moron to carry out, together with IPA4 on 31 March, the MIDS-cued firing over southern Spain. It was then used for avionics testing. A prototype of the CAPTOR-E electronically scanned radar was subsequently installed, flying for the first time in early March 2014, several months ahead of schedule. Because the aircraft is a Tranche 1 airframe, the trial also demonstrated that the CAPTOR-E could be fitted to first-batch production aircraft.
