Eurofighter Typhoon IPA3

IPA3 is a two-seater built by EADS Deutschland that first flew on 8 April 2002 with Chris Worning at the controls. In 2005 it was assigned to structural and loads testing: on 21 February it carried Paveway II bombs for the first time, and in November it carried the Litening III designator pod, in this case for aerodynamic trials. The carriage trials campaign ran until 2013. Together with IPA1, IPA3 is the only aircraft in the instrumented production fleet whose avionics were not raised to Tranche 2 standard: both retained the Tranche 1 configuration in which they were built. Like the rest of the IPA fleet it is owned by the NATO agency responsible for EF 2000 and Tornado development, production and logistics management.
