The Navy's successor to the T.2
In 1985 the Royal Navy ordered four Jetstream 31s to train its radar observers, designated Jetstream T.3. These were British Aerospace-generation aircraft, not conversions of the old Handley Page airframes like the T.2s, so the Fleet Air Arm ended up operating both branches of the same lineage side by side.
The role drifted over time: the T.3s were eventually used for VIP transport, a job the pressurised cabin and the aircraft's speed suited rather better than several of the missions it had been bought for. It is the latest military variant of the lineage and the smallest batch of them all.
