Il Fokker F27 Friendship è un bimotore turboelica da trasporto regionale olandese che volò per la prima volta il 24 novembre 1955 e arrivò a essere uno degli aerei commerciali europei di maggior successo della sua epoca. Fokker ne costruì 586 unità fino al 1987 e il modello fu inoltre fabbricato su licenza negli Stati Uniti.

Fokker concepì l'F27 negli anni successivi alla Seconda guerra mondiale come moderno sostituto del Douglas DC-3, l'aereo che allora dominava l'aviazione regionale. Il risultato fu un monoplano ad ala alta pressurizzato spinto da due turboelica Rolls-Royce Dart, una formula che offriva alle compagnie regionali un'economia di esercizio e un comfort assai superiori a quelli degli aerei a pistoni che sostituiva. Il prototipo decollò per la prima volta il 24 novembre 1955.
Aer Lingus fu la prima compagnia aerea a operare il Friendship, che entrò in servizio nel 1958. L'interesse del mercato nordamericano portò a un accordo con Fairchild, che fabbricò il modello su licenza negli Stati Uniti come F-27 e sviluppò in seguito la versione allungata FH-227. Con 586 unità uscite dalla linea di Fokker quando la produzione terminò nel 1987, l'F27 divenne uno degli aerei commerciali europei di maggior successo del suo tempo, con operatori distribuiti in tutto il mondo tanto nell'aviazione civile quanto nelle forze aeree.
Nel 1987 Fokker lo sostituì in produzione con il Fokker 50, un derivato modernizzato della stessa cellula. Decenni dopo la fine della fabbricazione, una manciata di F27 continuava a volare in servizi cargo e di trasporto utilitario, testimonianza della robustezza del progetto.
