British Movietone newsreel about the preparations for Apollo 11. The crew appears behind glass to avoid contagion: Neil Armstrong, set to be the first man to walk on the Moon, Buzz Aldrin, and Mike Collins, command module pilot. It shows training in reduced gravity simulating lunar gravity, one-sixth of Earth's, along with sample-collection and splashdown drills.
This is 1969 footage, shot before launch, which the channel is republishing as archive material.
The narration puts the mission's cost at 145 million pounds. It also explains the planned quarantine: decontamination suits and a mobile quarantine unit bound for the space center in Houston.
