The event and the team

Recording of the Shuttleworth Military Air Show 2026 with commentary from the show's announcers. Weather conditions prevented some participants from flying, and the organisers turned to available aircraft even when they strayed from the day's military theme.

What can be seen

Flying are a de Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk 22, performing aerobatics; a Harvard; 2Excel Aviation's Boeing 727-2S2F(RE), which makes a spraying pass over the airfield at about 200 feet with the TERSUS equipment connected; a Miles Hawk Speed Six flown by Richard Crofts; an Avro 19 Anson and a Douglas A-26C Invader.

The aircraft on display

The Chipmunk was the first aircraft designed by de Havilland Canada, a subsidiary set up in the late 1920s to build British designs under licence. The Harvard, a 600 hp advanced trainer, wears the colours of the No. 20 Service Flying Training School at Cranborne, in what was then Southern Rhodesia (today Zimbabwe), within the Rhodesia Air Training Group. None of the 727 remain in civil passenger service. Some still fly as corporate aircraft or on special missions, like those of 2Excel and Oil Spill Response Limited. The Invader has a Perspex nose for a crew member who acted as both bombardier and navigator. It was later painted black and passed to the 95th Bomb Squadron. By then it had already been hit twice by anti-aircraft fire, so it was kept as the squadron's reserve aircraft and flew little.
