Documentary piece presenting the MiG-29 Fulcrum as one of the most capable fighters of Soviet aviation, designed to match or surpass agile Western fighters such as the F-16.

It entered service with the Soviet Air Force in 1983 to replace the MiG-23. By 1990 it equipped at least 14 regiments, including eight of the nine fighter regiments of the 16th Air Army in East Germany, Czechoslovakia, and Poland, tasked with air defense and air superiority.

Its typical armament combines four R-73 missiles and two R-27s, an internal 30 mm cannon, an infrared sensor with laser rangefinder, up to three tons of strike payload, and a tactical nuclear weapon. According to the video, about 500 were in Russian service and around 350 more in other former Soviet republics.
