Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor F-22A Block 40 (propuesto)

Block 40 was to be the definitive Global Strike Task Force configuration, built on software block 3.3: full integration of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance functions and range improvements. Within that package the helmet-mounted head-up display planned under the JHMCS programme was dropped, and fitting the helmet-mounted display system developed for the F-35 was studied instead. After the crashes of 25 March 2009 and 16 November 2010, adding the automatic ground collision avoidance system was also raised. Raptor modernisation ultimately took another route: in the 2020s the numbered increments gave way to annual software releases developed with agile methods.
