Exterior and interior walk-through of the KC-130J Super Hercules, the Bundeswehr's new aircraft, guided by members of its crew.
Its dimensions are shown (about 30 m in length, 40 m in wingspan and 12 m in height) and its four turboprops, each producing nearly 4,700 hp. It carries more than 35,000 litres of kerosene between the wing tanks and two external tanks. The refuelling hose extends up to 28 m and has baskets of two sizes, for aircraft and for helicopters. Also shown are the head-up display, the nose reconnaissance camera, the vertically retracting main landing gear, and the cargo hold, with a reversible roller floor for pallets and folding seats.
The crew presents it as a multi-role aircraft for logistics, cargo and paratrooper drops, in-flight refuelling and reconnaissance.
