Launch of Mercury-Atlas 7 (Aurora 7)

Video from the channel lunarmodule5 about Mercury-Atlas 7, linked on its Above Ten Thousand entry. Duration: 3:50. Language: English. Video type: Launch.

Montage of the liftoff of the MA-7 mission, in which Scott Carpenter flew in the Aurora 7 capsule. It combines launch footage, somewhat blurry, with onboard camera views and the flight audio.

After the countdown, Carpenter notices the liftoff and the clock starting. He describes a clear blue sky and a somewhat rough passage through maximum dynamic pressure around the first minute. He keeps reporting that cabin pressure, electrical consumption, fuel and oxygen are within the expected range. At 1 min 30 s the sky turns black. Stage separation is confirmed, with a peak of 6.3 g, and the escape tower falls away.

At three minutes everything remains stable, the pilot states that his condition is good and ground control confirms that he is on the correct trajectory.
