How many Corsairs did the Argentine Navy have?
Short answer
The Argentine Navy received 26 Vought F4U Corsairs. They joined in 1956 to operate from the aircraft carrier Independencia and from land bases. They were of the F4U-5, F4U-5N and F4U-5NL variants. They served between 1956 and 1966; their last public appearance was the 9 July parade, and they were withdrawn from service in November 1965.

Twenty-six aircraft for naval aviation
Argentine Naval Aviation obtained 26 examples of this American fighter. The Corsair joined the Argentine Navy in 1956 for use aboard the aircraft carrier Independencia and on the mainland. In the list of Argentine naval aviation aircraft it appears as a piston-engined carrier-based fighter. The 26 aircraft were split among three versions: the F4U-5 fighter-bomber, the F4U-5N night fighter, and the F4U-5NL all-weather fighter-bombers, fitted with the AN/APS-4 radar. Those same variants, F4U-5, F4U-5N and F4U-5NL, are the ones listed in the naval aviation inventory.
A day and night squadron
The aircraft formed the 2nd Attack Squadron, which in turn was divided into two groups, one dedicated to day flying and the other to night flying. The Corsairs operated aboard the Independencia in 1959.
The end of service
The Corsairs made their last public appearance at the 9 July parade, marking Argentine independence, before being withdrawn from service in November 1965. The squadron was deactivated on 20 January 1966. In all, the type served in Argentine naval aviation between 1956 and 1966.
