Sukhoi Su-57 Su-57D

In July 2021 Russian state media announced that a two-seat variant of the Su-57 was under development, to be used for training pilots and for controlling the Sukhoi S-70 Okhotnik UCAV. Designated Su-57D, its rear cockpit is missionized: besides serving as a trainer it can carry a weapon systems officer able to perform additional tasks on more complex missions and potentially command-and-control functions. It first flew on 19 May 2026.

The variant fits the Su-57's role as an integration platform for unmanned aircraft: since 2018 the third flyable prototype had been used for teaming trials with the Okhotnik, and a second crew member dedicated to managing accompanying UAVs is the natural consequence of that work.
