Tour Around The 1959 Bristol Britannia
Video from the channel Oliver Lewis about Bristol Britannia, linked on its Above Ten Thousand entry. Duration: 2:14. Language: English. Video type: Onboard.
A brief tour inside a 1959 Bristol Britannia on display at Duxford. The narrator explains that it was one of the first passenger aircraft able to cross the Atlantic non-stop: the flight to New York, against the prevailing winds, took about 11 or 12 hours.
The visit follows the order of the cabin: first the flight deck, then the galley and the crew accommodation with bunks for long flights, then economy class, and at the back the first-class area, which today houses a small exhibition.
You can see how spacious the seats were compared with those on today's aircraft.
