The ones BOAC did not want
The 302 is the Belfast-built 300 series production by Short Brothers and Harland. BOAC ordered ten and cancelled them in favour of the 305; seven were begun to this standard and two were delivered to Aeronaves de Mexico, which put them into service in December 1957.
Of the 85 Britannias built, 30 came from Belfast and the rest from Filton. The 302's story sums up the programme's commercial problem: development delays made BOAC change configuration as it went, and instead of the 180 aircraft projected only 80 were sold.
