Pilots POV | Boeing 737 landing in Funchal Madeira Airport LPMA

Video from the channel Pilot PascalKlr about Boeing 737, linked on its Above Ten Thousand entry. Duration: 6:35. Language: English. Video type: Onboard.

Cockpit footage from a Boeing 737 during the approach and landing at Funchal, Madeira. The aircraft lands on runway 05 with a visual approach, on a day of gusty winds.

A chart explains the procedure: a VOR DME approach to runway 05 that starts at Porto Santo, follows the 261 radial and then intercepts and descends along the 211 radial. A holding pattern is provided for bad weather or heavy traffic. After passing the beacon on a small islet, the visual segment begins, with a right turn before lining up with the runway. During the descent, the minimums calls and the radio altimeter heights are heard down to touchdown.

The pilot recorded the flight early in his career, when he still flew the 737, and remembers it as one of his most spectacular approaches.
