The View from Apollo 4
Video from the channel The Vintage Space about Apollo 4, linked on its Above Ten Thousand entry. Duration: 2:41. Language: English. Video type: Documentary.
It's a short piece that opens with the Apollo 4 liftoff and then presents the sequence of photos taken from the spacecraft.
Apollo 4 lifted off on November 9, 1967. It was the first full test of the Saturn V rocket and the first time an Apollo command module reached orbit. The narrator notes that uncrewed Apollo missions tend to be overlooked.
The command module carried an automatic camera that took photos from one hour before to one hour after apogee, at 11,319 miles from Earth. Those images, which show Earth from great distance, take up almost the entire video, with background music.
