The P-38 'Glacier Girl' is recovered from the Greenland ice cap

In 1992 the earliest-built surviving P-38, known as Glacier Girl, was recovered from the Greenland ice cap, fifty years after it came down there on a ferry flight to the United Kingdom. After a complete restoration it flew again ten years after its recovery.
