Where is the Eurofighter Typhoon made?
Short answer
The Eurofighter Typhoon is built on four final assembly lines: Manching (Germany) and Getafe (Spain) by Airbus, Warton (UK) by BAE Systems, and Caselle (Italy) by Leonardo. It flies with the air forces of those four countries plus Austria, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and Qatar; in Spain it's based at Morón and Albacete (as of September 2026).

An aircraft split between four countries
The Typhoon was born from a consortium of Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain, and its production reflects that division of labor. Each partner builds a part: Airbus in Germany makes the center fuselage, BAE Systems makes the front fuselage and fin, Leonardo makes the rear fuselage and left wing, and Airbus in Spain makes the right wing and the leading-edge slats. The parts travel between plants, and each nation assembles the aircraft it has ordered on its own final assembly line: Manching, near Munich; Warton, in Lancashire; Caselle, next to Turin; and Getafe, south of Madrid. The EJ200 engines are produced by the Eurojet consortium, with factories in the same four countries.
Where it is based
The four founding air forces account for most of the fleet. In Spain, the Air and Space Force operates it with Wing 11 at Morón de la Frontera (Seville) and Wing 14 at Los Llanos (Albacete). Germany deploys it at Laage, Neuburg, Nörvenich and Wittmund; the United Kingdom at Coningsby and Lossiemouth; Italy at Grosseto, Gioia del Colle and Trapani. Austria keeps its small fleet at Zeltweg, and Middle Eastern customers (Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and Qatar) base it at their own main air bases.
In addition, Typhoons regularly rotate through NATO's eastern flank: detachments in Romania, Lithuania, Estonia and Bulgaria carry out Baltic and Black Sea air policing missions.
The program today
The aircraft remains in production. Germany has ordered new batches (Tranche 4 and 5), Spain is renewing its Canary Islands and Morón fleets under the Halcón program, and Italy has announced further units. All of them incorporate the ECRS active electronically scanned array radar, which replaces the original mechanical Captor radar and is the main upgrade on the Typhoon this decade.
