Meeting de Cambrai 2022 Double Duo Fille Garçon
Video from the channel duchateau hubert about Meeting des Ailes de Cambrai 2022, linked on its Above Ten Thousand entry. Duration: 13:00. Language: French. Video type: Air show.
Event and team
The video was filmed at the Meeting des Ailes de Cambrai in 2022. It shows an aerobatics display with two pairs flying together: two women pilots and two men. According to the commentator, the women's pair features Aude Lemordant, three-time world aerobatics champion and reigning title holder. The men's pair is made up of a former French Air Force pilot, who was a Mirage F1 display pilot and a Patrouille de France soloist, and Eric Vazeille, world aerobatics champion in 2000 in Toulouse. Air France, ADP and Total appear as sponsors.
What you see
Each pair performs synchronised smoke figures. One of the figures takes advantage of the two aircraft being different types: one circles around the other. The routine is then presented as a race between the two pairs, with overtaking manoeuvres the commentator narrates with humour. At the end, all four aircraft form a single formation, make a head-on pass in front of the audience and perform a loop before saluting.
The aircraft on display
Single-seat and two-seat aerobatic aircraft of different types fly, including an Extra 300. The commentator stresses that the hardest part is synchronising aircraft of different weight and manoeuvrability.
