Event and crew
Report recorded at the Meeting des Ailes de Cambrai 2022, at Cambrai-Niergnies airfield. It opens with remarks from the president of the Anciens aérodromes association, who presents at his stand a book on the airfield's history: its role during the Second World War and the post-war period, when the Armée de l'Air was stationed there. He also mentions another publication by the association about a fighter squadron based there.
What you see
The video alternates passes by vintage aircraft and display teams with fragments of the event's commentary, in which the show's music takes up much of the audio. The most talked-about act is the wingwalking number: Danielle releases herself from the rig, sits on the upper wing, moves onto the fuselage to perform the arabesque, and walks between the wings while her husband, Emiliano, pilots the biplane.
The aircraft on display
While the biplane flies, the announcer runs through the history of the flying circuses that performed in the United States from shortly before the First World War. He mentions pilots who passed through them, such as Roland Garros and Charles Lindbergh, and explains that the wingwalker positions herself to one side of the aircraft to offset the propeller's torque.
