History
The Il-18E was the last-generation civil version intended for routes where the Il-18D's extra range did not justify the weight of the additional fuel. It shares the Ivchenko AI-20M turboprops and the cabin lengthened by the repositioned aft pressure bulkhead with the Il-18I, but drops the increase in fuel capacity.
It was among the most widely exported variants to Eastern Bloc carriers and gave rise to the Il-18E Salon government transport version.
