History

The last Trident

The Super Trident 3B was the family's final variant: a 3B with greater fuel capacity, which added 692 km of range over the standard version. Only two were built, and both went to China's CAAC.

The Chinese market

Those two aircraft express most clearly what the Trident became in its last phase: a European airliner whose life was extended by China. After the thaw between London and Beijing, CAAC bought more than 35 Tridents of various versions, and it was on its routes that the type kept flying until 1995, a decade after British Airways retired it.
