Short piece about the Hawker Hurricane in the Second World War, narrated over colour footage from the period.
It recalls that it first flew on 6 November 1935 and entered service in December 1937 with No. 111 Squadron of the RAF. At the start of the war, the Mark I, armed with eight machine guns and mostly fabric-covered, was Fighter Command's most numerous fighter.
According to the narration, in the Battle of Britain of 1940 it outnumbered the Spitfire and is credited with more kills than any other aircraft. It fought in France, Norway, the Mediterranean and the desert, and in 1941 the Mark IIB, with twelve machine guns, and the Mark IIC, with four 20 mm cannon, entered service.
