History
BOAC's Argonauts
The C-4 Argonaut is the North Star version Canadair built for BOAC, with 22 aircraft delivered. The British carrier used them on its postwar empire routes, when it needed aircraft available immediately and the new generation of British types was not yet ready.
Four aircraft identical to the Argonauts were built to Canadian Pacific Airlines specifications as the North Star C-4-1, also known as the Canadair Four; some were later converted into freighters as the C-4-1C. Canadair grouped both the Argonauts and the C-4-1s under its internal model number CL-4.
