The two with Hornet engines
The DC-2A designates two civil DC-2s powered by Pratt & Whitney R-1690 Hornet radials — in the SD-G, S1E-G or S2E-G versions — instead of the type's usual Wright Cyclones.
It is an example of how adaptable the DC-2 airframe proved: it took at least three different powerplants from three manufacturers — the Wright R-1820s of the main series, these Hornets and the Bristol Pegasus VI of the Polish DC-2B.
