The impressed aircraft
The C-32A is not a factory version but an administrative designation: the one given to 24 commercial DC-2s impressed from the airlines for the Army Air Corps at the start of the Second World War.
It is the same story that would repeat on a far larger scale with the DC-3 and DC-4: when the United States entered the war, the available airliners passed into military service without further ceremony, often together with their crews. The C-32As kept their civil appearance and configuration, with military markings as the only visible difference.
