Deutsche Aircraft is developing the D328eco, a new-generation regional turboprop with 40 seats derived from the Dornier 328, whose type certificate rights it has acquired. It is built in Oberpfaffenhofen, near Munich, and will be able to fly on 100% sustainable aviation fuel.
The original Dornier 328 entered service in 1993, and about 150 units remain in use. The new model keeps the high wing, lengthens the fuselage by about 2 m to 23.3 m, and is powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127XT-S engines. The announced figures are a cruise speed of about 324 knots, a ceiling of 30,000 feet and a range of 655 nautical miles with about 3,700 kg of payload. There will also be a multi-mission version, the D328MR.
No firm orders have been announced, and entry into service has been delayed to late 2027.
