Antonov An-24 An-24V

The An-24V is the export version of the An-24B, fitted with the AI-24T (SrsII) turboprop. It was offered in two models. The early one keeps the narrow-chord wing, double-slotted flaps and a single ventral fin; the later one has single-slotted flaps, twin ventral fins and a modified interior allowing cargo to be carried in addition to passengers. Production began in 1964, alongside that of the An-24B it derives from.

The specifications Jane's All the World's Aircraft 1976-77 gives for the An-24 are those of the An-24V: a crew of three and 50 passengers; 23.53 m long, 29.20 m span, 8.32 m high and 74.98 m² of wing area, with an 11.7:1 aspect ratio; 13,300 kg empty and 21,000 kg maximum take-off weight; 5,550 L of fuel; two Ivchenko AI-24As of 1,900 kW each with four-bladed AV-72 constant-speed propellers of 3.90 m diameter. In performance, 485 km/h maximum and 450 km/h cruise at 6,000 m, an 8,400 m service ceiling and a range of 2,400 km with maximum fuel, falling to 550 km with maximum payload.

The An-24RV was built on the An-24V, the export version with a 1,985-lb thrust auxiliary turbojet in the starboard nacelle, and in 1965 the An-24VSR navigation trainer, a single aircraft modified to train pilots in radio communication. Three An-24RVs were later converted into An-24LP fire bombers.
