What it's about
The video presents, in a countdown, twelve facts about the Airbus A320 family.
Historical background
The A320, a single-aisle jet and the first member of the family, was launched in March 1984 and made its first flight on 22 February 1987. In December 2010, Airbus unveiled the A320neo, which entered service with Lufthansa in January 2016 with 15% lower fuel consumption.
Key facts
The aircraft operates at runway temperatures between -35 and 52°C. It has around 340,000 parts, and final assembly takes about a month across four lines spread over three continents: France, Germany, China and the United States. At the end of its service life, 85% of its weight can be recycled, with a target of 95%. It was the fastest-selling aircraft between 2005 and 2007. By the end of February 2020, Airbus had sold 15,522 aircraft in the family, the second best-selling after the Boeing 737. It accelerates from 0 to 200 km/h in under 20 seconds, and the electricity generated by its two engines would be enough to power 30 homes. The A321XLR, the next step after the A321LR, reaches up to 4,700 nautical miles.
