Period film reconstructing the launch sequence of a Titan II intercontinental ballistic missile from its silo. It shows the combat crew after days on alert, the arrival of a launch order with no prior warning, its authentication and the commander's cross-check, and each station's report before ignition and liftoff.
The title dates the filming to before 1974.
The film presents the launch as proof that Strategic Air Command's deterrent weapon was effective and that its crews were ready. According to the narrator, about 30 minutes after launch the reentry vehicle falls on a target thousands of miles away.
