PROTON ROCKET LAUNCH - Elektro-L No. 5
Video from the channel Cortes do Space Orbit about Proton, linked on its Above Ten Thousand entry. Duration: 11:21. Language: Portuguese. Video type: Launch.
The mission
Excerpt from Portuguese-language coverage by the Space Orbit channel of the launch of a Proton rocket with the Elektro-L No. 5 satellite towards geostationary orbit. The presenter recalls that the Proton was flying again after three years without launches and that it had put space station modules into orbit.
Sequence
The video follows the official Russian broadcast: footage of the launch, including a drone shot, followed by a telemetry animation with no onboard camera. The commentator points out the orange tint of the flame, which he attributes to hydrazine, and the passage through maximum dynamic pressure. After first-stage separation, the second stage's four engines carry the rocket above 80 km in altitude. Then come second-stage separation, third-stage ignition, and payload fairing jettison, which leaves the payload exposed to space at about 116 km in altitude. The speed shown by the telemetry climbs towards the target of around 27,000 km/h. The presenter warns that this data is for reference and does not appear to be transmitted in real time.
Outcome
The third stage shuts down and separates from the upper orbital block, which still has to manoeuvre before releasing the satellite. The coverage ends with the launch provisionally declared a success, without showing payload separation.
