[37th live stream] CASC's Long March 8A rocket - 9 x SatNet LEO Group 12 (Hulianwang Digui) launch.
Video from the channel Daniel Suguwa about Long March 8A, linked on its Above Ten Thousand entry. Duration: 28:31. Language: English. Video type: Livestream.
What's being streamed
A live stream, narrated by its author, of the launch of a Long March 8A carrying nine satellites from group 12 of the SatNet LEO constellation, from launch complex 1 (LC-1) of the Wenchang commercial space launch site, on Hainan island (China). The footage comes from the International Rocket Launches feed, with material from Space Lens and Chinese enthusiasts. Since the original feed has almost no sound, the commentator adds background music. Before liftoff he admits very little is known about these satellites and speculates about their design, comparing it to Starlink's and Kuiper's.
Key moments
No official launch time is known, so the wait drags on while the tower arm is seen retracting. After ignition, the rocket lifts off from LC-1 and its ascent is followed for about a minute, with the trail clearly visible, until the camera loses it. A distant shot of the later flight phase is briefly recovered afterward. The following shots show the launch pad, the cloud left by the combustion, and some enthusiasts at the site. At the end, the commentator summarizes the rocket's propulsion as he recalls it: kerosene and liquid oxygen for most of the vehicle, and liquid hydrogen and oxygen in the upper stage. He also shows on a map where the commercial site is located relative to Wenchang's main facilities.
Outcome
The stream only covers liftoff and the start of the ascent. It does not show stage separation and does not confirm that the satellites reached their orbit. The final stretch is not about the launch: the author uses it to announce upcoming streams he is preparing, such as the H3 with HTV-X1 or ISRO's LVM3 with GSAT-7R.
