Context

Helicopter number 66 drops off Frank Borman, Jim Lovell and Bill Anders on deck, amid cheers from the sailors. The ship's commander welcomes them on behalf of the crew. The astronauts go down elevator number three to the hangar deck, where they are greeted by the Marine honor guard. There, Borman cuts a cake of about 550 pounds, according to the commentator, dedicated to the recovery force: Underwater Demolition Team 12, Helicopter Squadron 4, the ship itself and its air wing. At the White House, the president praises the crew for representing all of humanity. Borman thanks the country on behalf of all three for its support of the space program.
