The Vulcan enters operational service with No. 83 Squadron

After training its first crews at No. 230 Operational Conversion Unit, the RAF stood up its first operational Vulcan squadron, No. 83 Squadron at RAF Waddington, in July 1957. It marked the start of front-line service for the delta-winged bomber within Britain's nuclear deterrent force.
