Interplanetary Transport System announcement

At the 67th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Guadalajara, Mexico, Elon Musk unveils the Interplanetary Transport System (ITS): a fully reusable two-stage rocket powered by methane/liquid-oxygen Raptor engines, with a 300 t payload capacity to LEO. A day earlier, on September 26, a Raptor engine had fired for the first time. The ITS is the direct precursor of the BFR and Starship.
