First flight

First flight of the three-engined Junkers Ju 52/3m

March 7, 1932

On 7 March 1932 the three-engined version of the Junkers Ju 52, the Ju 52/3m, flew for the first time. Derived from the single-engined Ju 52/1m, the prototype was powered by three 410 kW Pratt & Whitney R-1340 Wasp radial engines. This trimotor layout is the one that made the aircraft famous, later nicknamed 'Tante Ju'.
