First flight of the British-built Concorde 002

April 9, 1969

The second Concorde prototype, 002, built by BAC at Filton, Bristol, flew for the first time on 9 April 1969 with Brian Trubshaw at the controls, flying from Filton to RAF Fairford, where the British flight-test programme was based. Coming five weeks after 001 flew at Toulouse, the flight confirmed that both assembly lines of the Anglo-French programme were moving in step.
