Did you know…
How much blue origin ticket?
Short answer
Blue Origin was founded in 2000 by Jeff Bezos, then Amazon's CEO, headquartered in Kent, Washington. The company operated quietly in its early years and didn't fly its suborbital New Shepard rocket with a crew until July 20, 2021, with Bezos himself aboard.

A company born in silence
Jeff Bezos incorporated the company in 2000, when Amazon had been publicly traded for barely six years. Unlike other private space ventures of the time, Blue Origin avoided announcements and worked for more than a decade with almost no public presence. Its headquarters were set up in Kent, south of Seattle, and in 2003 the company began acquiring land in West Texas, near Van Horn, where it built the launch site its suborbital vehicles still fly from.
The corporate motto, *Gradatim Ferociter* ("step by step, ferociously"), sums up that philosophy: advance through incremental testing before taking on bigger risks. The company's emblem features two tortoises, a deliberate nod to the fable of the hare and the tortoise.
From suborbital hop to orbital flight
The first test vehicle, Goddard, flew in November 2006 on a brief hop within the Texas site. From it came New Shepard, a reusable suborbital rocket with a pressurized capsule, named after Alan Shepard, the first American in space. After several years of uncrewed flights, the company carried people for the first time on July 20, 2021, on a profile that briefly exceeds 100 km in altitude before descending by parachute.
In parallel, Blue Origin developed the BE-4 engine, fueled by liquid methane and oxygen—which also powers United Launch Alliance's Vulcan—and the heavy orbital launcher New Glenn, which first flew in January 2025 from Cape Canaveral. The company is also involved in NASA's Artemis program as a provider of a crewed lunar lander.
